I had the opportunity to design the event materials for EMP Museum’s Founders Award. Founders is an annual fundraising gala that honors legendary musicians that have made enormous contributions to the field. Previous honorees include Crosby, Stills & Nash, Buddy Guy, Jackson Browne and Carlos Santana. The gala fundraising helps benefit the EMP Museum youth programs. The gala itself is an elegant gala that calls for a sophisticated, sleek, and bold design. Founders Award has an extensive amount of print and digital collateral. Pieces include invitations, evening program and dinner menus, auction paddles and digital auction screens. The collateral additionally had to marry well with the gala interior design to create one cohesive identity. I worked closely with the talented designer, Melissa Robinson.
The color palette chosen consisted of a bold teal, red and black which, in execution, walked the line between rock n’ roll and sophistication. The headline type was set in a bold, high contrast serif while the subheads and body text were set in less contrasted and slightly more narrow serif.
